Sound Days
is a week-long international festival of sound art, electronic and experimental music, media art and other audiovisual experiments running since 2013. Sound Days gathers young artists, musicians, students, professionals and others that are interested in sound art and media arts in Liepaja, Latvia.
The festival consists of multiple 3-5 day long electronic music and visual arts workshops, discussions, presentations and audiovisual performance nights. The main focus of the festival week is the international workshop programme, which is hosted by professional international artists, electronic musicians and designers.
In 2025 the workshops will cover such topics as live coding music and visuals, DIY electronics and instrument making, creating audiovisual artworks, sound composition, generative art andothers. All the workshop results will be presented in public during the closing event of the festival week – a performance night and a pop-up exhibition on April 26, 2025.
Additionally to the festival main programme there will be the first Baltic Live Coders Meetup (BLCM) held on April 25, 2025. The BLCM aims to bring together live coders from the three Baltic states – Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania – to foster exchange, get to know each other and to create opportunities for further cooperation. The live coders will present their work, and exchange ideas, culminating with n Algorave with international and local artists in the evening and night. Sound Days 2025 is a satellite event of the International Conference on Live Coding (ICLC).
The festival is organised by “ASTE. Art, Science, Technology, Education”, “E-lab, center for electronic art and media” and “RTU Liepāja Academy” and will be hosted in the RTU Liepaja Academy’s Art Research Laboratory (MPLab), Kūrmājas prospekts 13, Liepaja, Latvia.
