Sound Days

is a week-long regional festival of sound art, electronic and experimental music and media art and other audiovisual experiments running since 2013. Sound Days gathers young artists, musicians, students, professionals and others that are interested in sound art and media arts in Liepaja, Latvia.

Sound Days festival connects together artists practicing sound art, music and media arts and students from across the Nordic-Baltic region, and arranges the presentation of established and young artists during creative workshops, masterclasses, artist talks, seminars in the Art Research Laboratory (MPLab) of RTU Liepaja Academy (formerly known as Liepaja University) and performances across multiple culture venues in the city.
The festival promotes innovation and exchange of artistic ideas and practice in providing an intensive hands-on workshop program that is open to everyone interested in the topics of sound, electronic music, AV performance and media arts. http://sound.mplab.lv

In 2024 the festival is focused on DIY culture in sound art, DIY electronics and instrument making, design, prototyping, AV performance and electroacoustic music composition.

Sound Days will be held from April 23 – 27, 2024 at RTU Liepaja (formally known as Liepaja University), the Liepaja Great Amber Concert hall, culture space “Klubs Kursa”.

In 2024 the festival partner is The Canadian Electroacoustic Community (CEC) and the contest JTTP 2023. Members of CEC and the JTTP winners, emerging composers from Canada will be present with Artist talks, masterclass, workshops and a concert of Canadian electroacoustic music, that will be held at the Great Amber concert hall, Chamber hall on April 25.

The festival is organised by ASTE. Art, Science, Technology, Education and RTU Liepaja (Formerly known as Liepaja University) Art Research Lab (MPLab).

“Sound days” is created with the support of Liepaja City Municipality institution “Culture Department” and State Culture Capital Foundation of Latvia (VKKF).
